چکیده

anions. In the case of chloride and chloride and nitrate baths, it may be observed that only 40-60% of deposited copper is oxidized in the reverse potential sweep; these low charge recoveries are due to an disproportionation stage: the newly deposited copper reacts with the Cu~II! present in the reaction layer to form Cu~I!. For baths containing only nitrates, the efficacy of charge recovery is even smaller ~20%! due to an interaction between newly deposited copper and nitrate ions that could include a direct redox reaction and/or nitrate reduction on the surface of copper nuclei, this reaction provokes an additional dissolution of copper nuclei. The presence of chlorides in nitrate-containing baths seems to block said interaction between nitrates and newly deposited copper. Through the analysis of current transients, copper electrocrystallization on GCE is shown to be performed by means of a three-dimensional nucleation growth diffusion-limited mechanism in the presence of the three electrolytes studied here. However, the presence of anions directly influences the magnitude and dependence of kinetic parameters of copper electrocrystallization with the applied potential. © 2001 The Electrochemical Society. @DOI: 10.1149/1.1357176# All rights reserved.

The Effect of Orthophosphate‚ Nitrate, and Chloride Anions on the Adsorption of Zinc in Some Calcareous Soils in Chaharmahal -va- Bakhtiari Province

Adsorption is one of the most important processes controlling the concentration of zinc (Zn) in the soil solution. The presence of nutrient anions in the solution can affect Zn2+ adsorption. In this study, the effect of orthophosphate, nitrate and chloride anions on the Zn2+ adsorption in five calcareous soil samples of Chaharmahal-va-Bakhtiari province was investigated. In order to study the Z...

Building a Rechargeable Zn-Cu Battery Through Employing a Monovalent Selective Cation Exchange Membrane

The Zn-Cu battery is plagued with both the problems of Cu2+ migration into the anodic chamber as well as the problem of shape change of zinc electrodes, where both of these processes together have historically prevented this type of battery technology from being rechargeable. We herein propose using a monovalent selective cation exchange membrane (CIEM) that through X-ray diffraction experiment...

Transient Adsorption of Sulfate Ions during Copper Electrodeposition

Surface-enhanced Raman scattering ~SERS! spectroelectrochemical investigations have been carried out in real time on the electrodeposition of copper from sulfuric acid solutions. Sulfate spectra were observed during copper deposition, but not on a copper surface at the same potential in the absence of copper ions in solution. This indicated that sulfate adsorption is a transient process associa...

Anion Control Selectivity of Neutral N4-Type Schiff Base Extractants Towards Transition Metal Ions

Two N4-type Schiff base ligands named N,N'-bis(2-pyridylmethylidene)-1,2-diiminoethane (L1) and N,N'-bis(2-pyridylmethylidene)-1,3-diiminopropane (L2) have been synthesized by the reaction of pyridine-2-carbaldehyde with ethylenediamine and propylenediamine, respectively. The binding abilities of L1 and L2 in dichloromethane towards Cu<...
